Day 1
Arrive Colombo – Kandy
Arrive Colombo – Kandy On arrival at Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport you will be met and transferred by our local representative to Kandy. Enroute visit one of the most important tourist attractions in Sri Lanka, the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Volunteers and caretakers provide shelter and take care of orphaned, abandoned and injured elephants within the park. You can watch caretakers feed, bathe and help these gentle giants. You can walk with the herd to the nearby river to watch the elephants bathe and play around in water. Later visit the Gem Museum. Sri Lanka produces the finest quality of gems in the world. Semi-precious gems, the sapphires of Sri Lanka, which are very exclusive and comes in shades of blue, red, green, white etc. Please note that entrance fees are not included.Overnight at the hotel in Kandy.
Day 2
Kandy
Today proceed on a city tour of Kandy. Visit one of the world heritages as well as a sacred place for the Buddhists all over the world; namely the Temple of tooth Relic known to the Sri Lankans as Dalada Maligawa. Next visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens which is a paradise for nature lovers. This beautiful flower Eden is restored with over 300 different varieties of orchids, other spices, medicinal plants and Palm trees. Every year more than 1.2 million people are enchanted by the beauty of these 147 acre flower gardens. In the evening you will witness a traditional cultural dance show. Day 3
Kandy – Nuwara-Eliya
Proceed to Nuwere-Eliya. Visit Tea Factory Tea garden (Approximately 77 Km 2 1⁄2 Hour). Nuwara Eliya - The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coolest places in the Island, but it is really just like an English spring day, although the temperature does drop at night. All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British influence, houses like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions. The Victoria Park, in the middle of the town, is a lovely place for a stroll or a picnic. Seasons may be absent elsewhere in Sri Lanka, but here you can read them by the flowers, which bloom in the spring (March to May) and the fall (August and September). These are the “seasons” when low-country folk flock to Nuwara Eliya to escape the sea level heat and humidity. In the evening Nuwara Eliya City tour. Rest of the day at leisure in the hotel. Day 4
Nuwara Eliya – Colombo (Approximately 187 Km 6 Hrs)
Transfer to Colombo . In the afternoon Proceed to city tour in Colombo with shopping. Colombo: a drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmiths quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. Rest of the day at leisure in the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Colombo . (B)
Day 5
Depart Colombo
This morning you will be transferred to the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport to board your flight back to home or your next destination. (B)
