Day 1
Arrive Colombo – Dambulla
On arrival, you will be blessed to get your first taste of warm Sri Lankan hospitality. A representative will welcome you at the Airport and will guide you to the transportation arranged for you for transfer to your frst destination. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage – Approx. 55 miles from Colombo, of the Colombo – Kandy road is Pinnawela. Here an orphanage was started in 1975 to house abandoned and wounded elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 65 now; including baby elephants brought from various parts, as well more than 25 babies born as a result of the captive breeding programme. The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0915-0945 hrs and 1415-1445 hrs and the bathing time from 1000 to 11.00 hrs and 1500-1600 hrs when all the elephants are taken to the river close by. Day 2
Dambulla – Sigiriya Rock Fortress – Dambulla
This morning after breakfast proceed to Sigiriya Rock, after you will enjoy a nice trip in the Jungle while riding the Elephant. Sigiriya Rock Fortress is home to the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. Within its triple- moated defence the huge rock rises almost to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original colour. Day 3
Dambulla – Kandy
After breakfast proceed to Kandy. Once you arrive to Kandy, visit the Temple of Tooth Relic.Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Square, Arts & Crafts Centre, Gem Museum & Temple of Tooth Relic. Kandy the hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera The last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was fnally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of the Buddhism's infuence in Sri Lanka today. Temple's shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere. Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic – ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha's Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka hidden from sacrilegious hands in an Orissan princess' hair, the Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered Sri Lanka's most prized possession. By the night experience a colourful show where you will be taken to mind blowing Sri Lankan culture extravaganza. Get ready for Heavy drumbeat and acrobatic act. Overnight at the hotel in Kandy. (B,D)
Day 4
Kandy – Nuwara-Eliya
Proceed to Nuwere-Eliya. Visit Tea Factory Tea garden (Approximately 77 Km 2 1⁄2 Hour). Nuwara Eliya - The ‘Little England’ of Sri Lanka, is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coolest places in the Island, but it is really just like an English spring day, although the temperature does drop at night. All around Nuwara Eliya you will see evidence of the British influence, houses like country cottages or Queen Ann style mansions. The Victoria Park, in the middle of the town, is a lovely place for a stroll or a picnic. Seasons may be absent elsewhere in Sri Lanka, but here you can read them by the flowers, which bloom in the spring (March to May) and the fall (August and September). These are the “seasons” when low-country folk flock to Nuwara Eliya to escape the sea level heat and humidity. In the evening Nuwara Eliya City tour. Rest of the day at leisure in the hotel. Day 5
Nuwara Eliya – Colombo (Approximately 187 Km 6 Hrs)
Transfer to Colombo . In the afternoon Proceed to city tour in Colombo with shopping. Colombo: a drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmiths quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. Rest of the day at leisure in the hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Colombo . (B,D)
Day 6
Depart Colombo
This morning you will be transferred to the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport to board your flight back to home or your next destination. (B)
